After four weeks of awesome weather with heat and sunshine and only the occasional summerstorm, today, on the first day of the summer break it is of course raining. It started yesterday evening and has not stopped jet. I'm sure it's good for all the plants and stuff, but really?

Spent the weekend in cologne to escape the insanity that is the love parade. Turns out it was an even better idea then anticipated. My hometown now aquired a kind of questionable fame. My condolences to all families.

Finally, the cold is over for now and summer has arrived. We've had sunny days for over a week now. I love summer, although my brain stops working if it's too hot. We'll see how it goes in Italy in August. Looking forward to it very much. It's going to be fun.

The soccer world cup is far more interesting than it should be. I've spent way too much time watching soccergames on tv, instead of working on my homework or other important stuff.
But germany is really good this year, which is kind of surprising. The players are all younger than me, and smaller. It's so cute. I hate that I'm so emotionally invested, because it does not make any sense, I'm not interested in sports at all and normally, i'm also not really patriotic or something. But it's just so much fun to watch and I would be sad, should they lose the next game.
What really annoys me is the use of "we" by everyone who talks about it. As far as I know, I did not stand on the field and played, so it's just not "we".

I had an awesome weekend! Finally the summer arrived here! I went to kind of practise weekend with the choir I'm singing in and we spent much time practicing but also sitting in the sun and chatting and having much fun all around. Friday night we had a camp fire with marshmallows, sausages and bread-on-a-stick.
It just was very much fun.

In other news: New Doctor Who episode was awesome!

Why does Phonetics have to be so complicated? And why do I even care? It's the only subject in my studies that I have real problems with and that is really frustrating. And time consuming. But I will get it!
My plan is to watch very much british television!

[livejournal.com profile] ofparsnip's questions, my answers:

1. Who's your favorite character on Leverage, and why? (And if you have an OTP...)

I do like everybody, and I especially like the interactions and the relationships.
If pressured I would have to say Nate is my favourite, though. Not really sure why.

2. You're a university student -- what are you studying, and what drew you to that?

I study english linguistics and christian studies. I'm from germany, so I learned english in school, but was never very interested, until the rise of dvds and the possibility to watch movies in the original(we have everything dubbed). I also love reading, but what interests me the most is the language, accents, and what you can do with it.
My other subject has to do with myself. I am a christian since I was about 15, went to church my whole life, now I want to clear some things, get a new perspective about things.

I started university 5 years ago and studied IT, because it is future- proof, but that did not work out at all, so now I do what I really like and may later have problems getting a decent job...

3. If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one TV show and one movie with you, what would you be watching?

TV Show would have to be Doctor Who the complete 45 year series, no chance of ever running out of new stuff.
Movie, I'm not sure about. I think, I'd take "Knockin on heavens door". That's one of my all time favourite german movies about two terminally ill guys who just want to see the sea once, because they have never been there.

4. If you won the lottery and had enough cash to last you a couple of lifetimes, what would you be doing right now?

I would probably still study, but somewhere else. I would definitely be travelling around a bit. I have never been outside of europe, so I would change that.

5. Top five favorite foods!

1. chocolate
2. bread with strawberry jam
3. fruit (not bananas)
4. everything with cheese
5. everything with chocolate in it

The only good think about having a course at 8 in the morning is getting to see the sunrise. It was beautiful yesterday so I was automatically in a better mood.
Today it is raining- less satisfying.
At least I don't have to go out until 9:30, maybe I'll be more awake then.

These are some pictures from my holidays in Aberystwyth in Wales. We had awesome weather with just one slightly rainy day in the whole two weeks. It was sunny and warm enough to lie on the beach, although the water was a little too cold of course. We think we weren't really in Wales at all but somehow endet up somewhere more mediterranean.

Look at these pictures! )

Monday I'll fly to birmingham with my bet friend and another friend of ours. I'm very excited about it! We're going to have so much fun.
But before we go I should probably do something for uni... After we come back I only have another two weeks 'till the start of the new semester.

In other news: New Leverage and new Supernatural in the next few days!
And also Firefly will finally be shown in Germany for the first time in television! Of course, I won't be able to watch it, because I'm not there, but it's still cool.
spurenimsand: (Default)
I'm very bored at the moment, because I'm at uni and we have an one hour break. I jjust have nothing to do. Checked my emails, nothing new, checked some news sites, nothing interesting, did the wahl- o- mat, which is a tool that is supposed to help you decide who to vote...
Now I can't think of anything else to do for the last half hour...

...morning. Autumn has arrived with rain and storm and falling leaves. At least it got a little sunnier later.

Spent the evening at a friend's birthday party. Many people that I didn't know, but it was fun anyway. We played sing star. I love this game. Somehow I'm not too bad, although I'm sure I can't sing. We also played table soccer, which was cool too. It was a nice evening and it made me feel better.

Tomorrow is the last day of the seminar in profiling I was attending as a optional subject. I should start to think about a topic for the term paper. Maybe he will give us some options tomorrow. Otherwise I'll have to ask him for advice.

Today I worked two hours in total, but was on my way from one workplace to the other for 2 hours. Left the house at 11am, came back at 6pm. Next time Iĺl take the car again. But actually it wasn't too bad. I had time to finish my book on the train ride.

The worst thing was that it started to rain as I was getting out of the train, so I was soaked when I arrived at the second place. Luckily it was still warm. This year we really had a proper summer again, although it started in late august and the nights were cold. But we had about two or three weeks of sunshine, that's unusual.

As of today it seems to be over though.

So this is the book I read:
Val McDermid: The last temptation )

Waiting for my latest cooking experiment to finish in the oven.
I'm hungry...

At seven tonight I'll go do some sports. Last week I was sore for three days. I hope it will get better if I do this more regularly. But it's fun and very satisfying to know that I've done something.

Hope my meal will be ready before I have to go...

Election

Managed to write one and a half pages for my homework yesterday. Not much, but it's a start. Now I just have to keep it up.
Today is election day where I live, we vote for a new communal government. I have no idea who to vote, because the whole campain has been somewhat ridiculous on all sides, with cheap trick, false information and not really any real info at all.
I'll just go there, look at the choices, make a cross somewhere and feel like I have done what I could.

It's saturday, half past nine and I'm awake for more then an hour. What happened to sleeping in on weekends?
The absolute latest I can manage, if I went to bed really late is nine.
It's not as if I had nothing to do. There is this Hausarbeit I have to write, but I can't motivate myself. So I`m just surfing the net.
In two weeks I'll be on holiday! We're going to wales again. It's going to be great!
spurenimsand: (Default)
So, a new start. Trying out this journal- thing.
I hope I will keep it up. Planning to post about my holidays, everyday things, books, tv show and whatever seems interesting.
Mostly I'm just a consumer and I definitely need to change that and become more active and more creative. Also need to practicce my english writing skills.
that's it for now, I guess...
